Coombe Tribute "Lady Celia" Pinot Noir 2021

THE WINE
A refined and meticulously structured Pinot Noir. Seductive aromatics of fresh cranberries, sour cherry and red plum are complemented by subtle notes of fresh toffee and timber spice. Sitting within a complex and velvet tannin palate, the fruit is poised and composed.

A soft rounded mouthfeel finishes this elegant wine.

THE VINTAGE
One of the best, close to perfect vintages in the last 10 years. January was warm with good rainfall setting up the vines with an ideal amount of soil moisture. This was followed by a month of cool and dry conditions, perfect for slow and steady fruit ripening. The cooler conditions and even ripening resulted in producing fine elegant wines.

VITICULTURE + WINEMAKING
The single clone of MV6 is sourced and hand-picked from our ‘C’ and ‘G’ Blocks. The fruit is fermented in open pot vessels with approximately 50% whole bunch fermentation. A 4-day cold soak under CO2 cover allowed a slow start to natural fermentation. Handled gently with hand plunging. Pressed when dry and immediately racked to oak, the wine finished fermentation and was matured in a combination of one-to three-year-old French puncheons and barriques for a period of 7 - 8 months.
